Live cinema about Lotte Reiniger
100 years ago, Lotte Reiniger made film history: With "The Adventures of Prince Achmed," she created the first feature-length animation film – a masterpiece of silhouette cutting and fantasy.
Katrin Rothe presents, based on a text by Rike Reiniger, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the world premiere, a lecture performance that brings Lotte Reiniger's life and art back into the spotlight. On stage, projections, silhouette animations, and documentary scenes create a fascinating mix of theater, live cinema, and puppetry. The performance is accompanied by improvisations in the style of 1920s film music by jazz musician Nik Phelps, who has already performed with artists such as Tom Waits and Frank Zappa.
World premiere May 21 / 22 / 23, 2026 in the Schaubude Berlin
